It is with deep regret and sadness that I announce, on behalf of Spennymoor Town Council, the passing of our late Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second.

It is with deep regret and sadness that I announce, on behalf of Spennymoor Town Council, the passing of our late Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Flags will be flown at half mast from the Town hall from now until the day following the funeral, with the exception that they will move to full-mast from 1100hrs to coincide with the reading of the national proclamation on XXXXXXXX, lowering to half mast at 1300hrs the following day.

Books of Condolence will be opened, and will be available in the reception of the Town Hall, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm. The books will close at 4.30pm on the day following the funeral.

If you wish to lay flowers, these can be laid at the planter to the end of the town hall. The Town Council asks that you remove all wrapping, plastic items etc, as the day following the funeral, flowers without wrapping etc, will be collected for composting. this compost will be used at a future date to plant a tree in jubilee park which will become known as ‘The queen’s tree’.

A local proclamation will be made by the mayor in jubilee park on XXXXXXX. Everybody is welcome to attend.
