Walter Holmes has been a professional artist since 1980. However, his first solo exhibition was in 1972 at the Gulbenkian Gallery (within the Peoples Theatre), Newcastle.
Since then he has exhibited in galleries and exhibitions both locally and nationwide, including the Mall Galleries in London. He has also completed many commissions for companies and private individuals.
His main art education came from the Evening School of Newcastle University during the 1960's and Beamish College throughout the 1970's.
Walter's paintings are mostly representational landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes, always trying to see familiar views with a fresh eye.
