PROPOSED ALLOTMENT RENT INCREASE POSTPONED FOR EXISTING TENANTS
In October 2018, the Town Council voted to increase allotment rents as currently the allotment income is around £16,500 whilst the cost of running the allotments is approximately £60,000. Unfortunately, an error occurred and insufficient notice was given to allotment holders, for which the Town Council would like to apologise. The current situation is that existing allotment tenancy holders will continue to pay the same rate until April 1 2020, when the rents will increase, whilst new tenants from 1st April 2019 will pay the increased rate.
Allotment holders who have already paid the increase rate are, of course, entitled to a refund of the additional amount paid. If you are one of these allotment holders, please can you contact the Town Hall to arrange for these monies to be repaid to you.
