Rock the vote!

It’s almost time for young people to vote for their choice of MYP (member of youth parliament) to represent Durham for the next 2 years.

Election lines open from Jan 29 – Feb 5, and info on all of the candidates has been released to help young people when voting.

Any young person that lives, works, volunteers or attends school or college, aged 11-18 is eligible to vote. The Election Candidate Booklet explains more, and features manifestos from the candidates. Young people can vote on paper and return it to the Youth Parliament or use the online voting link when it goes live.

Voters must share some info so that YP’s Participation & Engagement Officer can verify votes and prevent people from voting multiple times. Info will not be shared, only the P&E officer will see this, it will be used only to confirm a person’s identity if there’s suspicion of fraudulent voting and info on YP will be destroyed once results have been counted.
