Spennymoor Gala gears up for 70th year celebrations
Spennymoor will be bouncing this weekend when the Gala returns and enters its seventh decade of bringing joy and entertainment to the town.
The couple met 63 years ago at Thorns and have enjoyed six fantastic decades together..
Mr and Mrs Burgess, who have a son and daughter, two granddaughters and three great grandsons, celebrated with a meal with their family.
Cllr Geldard said: “One of the best things about being Mayor is meeting wonderful people like the Burgesses. I’d like to congratulate them on their special anniversary and wish them many more happy years to come.”
