Covid Update

As you know, this week, we reached a significant milestone in the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, with an easing of restrictions allowing up to six people, or two households, to meet outside or in private gardens. Outdoor sports facilities can also reopen and the ‘Stay at Home’ message has been replaced with ‘Stay Local.’

We know how much these extra freedoms mean to our communities, who no doubt will be hoping to spend some time with friends and family over the Easter break. However, it is vital we continue to promote the importance of following public health guidance, especially ‘Hands, Face, Space, Fresh Air’ and the rule of six.

It is incredibly encouraging to see our current seven-day infection rate has fallen to 61.9 per 100,000 people. This is still slightly higher than the national average, but we are starting to see the rate level-off. We must stay vigilant to ensure the roadmap remains on track and our communities and the NHS are protected.
