Spennymoor Town Council continues to be a great supporter of the Armed Forces, which has included granting the Freedom of the Town to the RIFLES, flying the Armed Forces Day Flag and hosting the Remembrance Service in the Town Hall and assisting with the subsequent parade.

The Council are now inviting people to knit poppies to create a poppy display at the cenotaph in the Town Centre.

The poppies will be displayed from mid-October, to align with the sterling efforts of the British Legion and its annual Poppy Appeal, to Sunday 19th November.

The Town Council would like to thank those who have been knitting already and dropping poppies off at the Town Hall, and would now encourage others to join in and help commemorate those who have fought for this great country of ours.

Hard copies can be collected from the Town Hall.

Knitted poppies are to be delivered to Spennymoor Town Council by Friday 29 September 2017.
