Christmas Light Switch On – 29th November 2025
Spennymoor sparkled with festive cheer as the Christmas lights were officially switched on, an event organised by Baccanalia on behalf of Spennymoor Town Council. The magical moment was led by the Mayor of Spennymoor, joined by Santa himself, creating an unforgettable start to the holiday season.
Entertainment filled the Market Square with performances from Spennymoor Youth Band, Spennymoor Stage and Song, Spennymoor Youth Theatre, and Kingdom Culture Church, bringing joy and festive spirit to all who attended. Despite the harsh winter weather, local dedicated traders also braved the elements to make the event special—thank you for your resilience and support!
Inside the Town Hall, families were treated to a magical experience of a visit with Santa in his Grotto. He delighted the children of Spennymoor by handing out gifts and spreading Christmas joy.
This year’s celebration wasn’t just about the tree lights, it was about community. The Mayor took the opportunity to raise funds for her chosen charities: Spennymoor Town Band and Youth Band, supporting the incredible musical talent within our town.
