Spennymoor Gala gears up for 70th year celebrations
Spennymoor will be bouncing this weekend when the Gala returns and enters its seventh decade of bringing joy and entertainment to the town.
Friday 27th June saw the judging of the annual Gala shop window competition. The theme this year was Boogie Wonderland.
Around a dozen shops took part in the festivities and competition was fierce! Spennymoor Town Mayor, Cllr Liz Maddison, who had the difficult task of judging the entries, congratulated Clem’s on winning first place, followed closely by Defty’s in 2nd place and the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust in 3rd place.
The Mayor presented all entrants with a certificate and sweet treats. Pictured inside Clem’s window are the Town Mayor accompanied by Julie Wilson of the Gala Committee. (Photo courtesy of John Teasdale)
