For the past nine years, Amanda has worked tirelessly distributing collection tins, ordering, and distributing wreaths and liaising with the Town Council, having been involved with the Royal British Legion since she was a child.
Amanda has decided to step down as RBL Poppy Appeal Organiser and we would like to express our appreciation for her relentless dedication, which has helped Spennymoor collect almost £150,000 during her time at the helm.
Town Clerk, Ian Morris, said: “It is down to the hard work, passion and commitment of Amanda and people like her that the Royal British Legion can collect funds to aid them in their effort to help those who served their country.
“Everyone at the Council would like to thank Amanda and wish her well for the future.”
From now, anyone wanting to purchase a wreath should contact: The Royal British Legion on 0345 845 1945 or www.poppyshop.org.uk
If any organisation or individual would like to be called out to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday at the War Memorial or intending to bring Standard, please contact the Town Council on 01388 815276 with your details by no later than 7th November 2024.
Until a new Poppy Appeal volunteer is appointed, poppies will be available from the town’s supermarkets.
