The Civic Service was held at St Andrews Church on Sunday September 17th.  It was well attended by Mayors and Civic Leaders from across Co Durham, despite the torrential rain at just the wrong time in the afternoon!

The Spennymoor Town Band were there to provide musical accompaniment and did the town proud, as they always do.

The service was led by Father John Livesley, and followed by a late afternoon tea in the church hall.   Many thanks to all volunteers for helping and the Town Hall staff again for supporting the event, and enduring the awful weather that day.  Attending Mayors and Civics were hugely impressed by St Andrews Church, the service, the band and of course the tea.

Residents attending took the opportunity to catch up with Cllrs of all parties who were there. Many thanks to all who came, and we’re following up on the residents questions.

A collection was taken in support of the Mayors charities – the Scouts and the Mining  Museum
